We have survived to the first two weeks for Kindergarten!!!

Emma got better from her throat infection just in time for "meet the teacher" night at her school, we went and the teacher greeted us at the door, the room was ready with the kids' names and we did a scavenger hunt to help the kids know their classroom and then Mrs. Paramo took a pic of ea family by the boar, I thought it was so nice, Emma paid much more attention to the play kitchen then to her teacher, but she was happy, so happy she didn't want to leave!

Kindergarten started the following Monday, minimal day for two weeks, 9am-12:15pm, the first day of school we were allowed inside the classroom, we were a little late because it was raining and we didn't anticipated the morning chaos, again, teacher took a pic of us with Emma, the kids were busy coloring a wrangler, the school mascot, Emma was happy and ready to start, we hanged out for a while and then took of, I almost shocked up on my way out but I made it... the following days I made excuses to get there early to take a peek while Emma was playing, it feels so weird to be without her! Emma had her assessment on Thursday and she did AMAZING? her teacher gave us a score of 73 for her and she said she was the top of her class and will be put on high level for reading, we are so proud of her.

This week I volunteered on Thursday, Emma was excited to have me there and kept coming to me for hugs, we had lunch together and she loved it.

Mornings have run smoothly and I think the flap chart we made has helped tremendously, she's up by herself and we don't have to tell her what to do, she knows from that chart, also lunch packing has been fun and she is eating mostly everything and keeping everything inside her lunch pail.

Next week is regular schedule 8am-2pm, we'll see if we get a little more free time, up to today I've felt busier then ever and almost like I live at her school ha ha, probably more because of me then anything else. Talk to you soon!

First post in my journal

I've decided to start this blog as a personal journal, trying to remember my pass memories it's not working that great so I need to document the whole thing, hehe...please, ignore all my grammar errors (if anyone else besides me ever reads this posts) and many, many misspellings, as English is not my first language, so why do I write in English? you may ask, the main reason is my daughter and soon to be born son, even though my 5 year old is fluently bilingual and yet does not know how to read, statistics show that kids prefer to speak English once they start school, which my daughter is in 2 weeks (insert sadness, nervousness and excitement here). Well, let's start:

Today was what I thought a common day, it is our last week at The Family Treehouse before Emma starts school, that place holds so many memories for us since we've been members for almost 5 years, yikes! 5 years of going there every week at least 3 times a week, it is bittersweet to leave that place, even if it is temporary, as we'll be back once Ian is old enough to go there. Anyways, Emma got up at 6:30 am, not my favorite time of the day, but she was her happy self, until she complained of having a headache, a first for her, I decided to give her some Tylenol and she seemed ok during our morning at the Treehouse, she played well and did class as usual, she was excited to see James and Mathew and I was happy that there was someone her age to play with her (a rare thing, since it's more like toddler town lately), she barely touched her lunch, but then again, most of the time she rather go back and play...We left the Treehouse to head home and have lunch with daddy, a quick stop before that to drop a blueberry muffin for our friend Fernanda (since our morning attempt failed miserable due to Sprint issues). We got home and hubby was already eating, Emma did not want to eat, I joined hubby, the new recipe was a success. After he returned to work Emma and I made an activity, I had bought a craft/toy a while ago at Target on sale and I thought this was a good time to play with it, the whole point is to mix 2 matters to make one and then use molds to make animal shapes, Emma being a huge fan of tutorials in Youtube was thrilled to make one, our camera died and we couldn't complete a video, also the whole thing didn't turn well, we must do something wrong, maybe it needs more mixing because they didn't set up well...After that, we played Littlest Petshop, I must confess I am not good at it, I can't think what to say nor do and Emma often wants to control the whole thing, telling us what to say and how to say it, and gets mad when you don't get it right, that bugs me a little, but I agreed to play anyways, it actually went better then I thought. Then I suggested watching a movie, I played Mulan on Netflix for good 5 minutes until she said she was scared, I switched to another show, when that was over she picked a Lego movie, I started falling asleep (did I mention I am almost 7 months pregnant and I am really sleepy all the time? except at night, of course), Emma said she was sleepy but didn't want to sleep, I told her she shouldn't fight it and if she was sleepy she should sleep, secretly hoping I could snooze in for 30 min and she would be up as soon as her dad was here, I was wrong, she woke up an hour later and was really cranky (and then I regretted making her sleep), she was really hot and her temp was above 101 degrees, I gave her some Tylenol again and me being the genius I am, offered her a cup of milk (I was feeling really worried because she didn't eat much today), as soon as she finished the cup she threw up the whole thing, my bad! of course she didn't want to eat anything else and her temp is still a bit high, she's sleeping with us and I really hope she's all better in the morning; she has a play date and she's really excited about it and I am going to Mexicali to meet my friends for dinner, none of the plans will go thru if she isn't better and I will have to take her to the doctor.

This is hubby's lunch, I love bento lunches, I rarely pack lunches for hubby but tomorrow we won't be here (if Emma feels better): Penne pasta with pesto, cherry tomatoes, spinach and sweet peppers, spinach and cheese pita bread, heart shaped strawberries and grapes and a cookie for dessert.
